The rose trees "Lianes"
Given their various origins, it seems difficult to link ros "lianes" to a unique type.
We should there fore analyse their resemblance in the way they grow and the way they are used rather than through their genetic heritage.
Most of them were born in 20th century.
As those prolific varieties called "perpetuals" arrived from China, rose growers attempted multiple tests which very often remained unsuccessful. To sum it all up, they are giant creepers, flower once a year and hardly need any other pruning than the cleaning of dead wood.
If we consider their full potential size (some reach over 14 meters), and their vigorous yearly growing (3-4 meters a year), these creepers should thrive on specific places like old buildings, tree, walls...
